The childhood-console story

A lot of what comes across our bench isn't broken so much as forgotten — a Game Boy that hasn't turned on since middle school, batteries left in it for fifteen years. More often than not, under the corrosion and the yellowed plastic, the board is fine. We can get it powering on again, drop in a screen that's brighter than the one you remember, and put it in a fresh shell — the handheld you had, but the way you remember it feeling.

How it works

    Diagnostic and inspection

    We open the handheld, test power regulation, inspect the capacitors and audio circuit, assess screen condition, and identify all faults before quoting any work.

    Power and audio repair

    Replace dead or swollen batteries, clean or rebuild corroded battery contacts from AA leakage, and recap the audio circuit to eliminate buzzing.

  3. 3

    Screen and mod installation

    We install any agreed upgrades — IPS screen, USB-C charging, glass lens — at the same time as repairs to save time and labour.

  4. 4

    Shell and button restoration

    Replace sticky button membranes, fit new shells or clean existing housing, and address hinge or port damage.
