DIY Repair Gone Wrong? We Fix Those. No Judgment.

You watched the video. You bought the kit. And then a ribbon cable tore, or a connector lifted off the board, or the screen came out and the phone never came back on. It happens to people who are good with their hands — these parts are designed to be assembled once, by a machine. Bring it in as-is, with every screw and part in a bag. What to do right now

  1. 1

Stop. The most expensive damage usually happens after the first mistake, while trying to fix the mistake.

  2. 2

Don't power it on or charge it.

  3. 3

Put every screw, bracket, and part in a bag — including anything that snapped.

  4. 4

Bring the original parts, especially the home button, Face ID module, or fingerprint sensor.

  5. 5

Come in. The diagnostic is free either way.

The Five Most Common DIY Casualties

Every one of these is a real repair we see regularly. Every one is repairable more often than not.

1

Torn Ribbon Cable

The flat cables connecting screens, batteries, and boards are thinner than paper and glued down. One confident pull and the connector pads lift off the board. Repairable: we rebuild the pads and fit a new connector under a microscope.

2

Connector Ripped Off the Board

The most common console casualty by far — PS5 fan connector, phone digitizer connector. Most shops call it fatal. It isn't — the pads and traces can be rebuilt.

3

Screen Replaced, Face ID or Touch ID Now Dead

Some components are cryptographically paired to your device. Damage or swap them and the feature is gone permanently — unless the original part survives and is transferred correctly. Bring the original part if you still have it.

4

Device Won't Power On After Reassembly

Usually a shorted board from a screw in the wrong hole, a pinched cable, or a battery connector seated wrong. Often a same-day fix. Sometimes a board-level repair. Free diagnostic tells you which.

5

Battery Punctured, Swollen, or Damaged

Stop immediately. A punctured or swelling lithium battery is a fire risk. Do not charge it. Bring it in carefully — we handle safe disposal and replacement. We'll also identify and fix what caused the damage in the first place.

“These guys are experts in their craft and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. Came in to repair a fan connector that came off my ps5s motherboard. They essentially rebuilt a part of the motherboard to get it working which is not easy. Wouldn't take my Ps5 to be repaired anywhere else. Definitely recommend.”

Why We're the Right Shop for This

Board-level repair is the difference between “you broke it” and “we can rebuild that.” Rebuilding torn pads, replacing connectors, and repairing traces under a stereo microscope is our everyday work — most shops can't do it, so they tell you the board is dead. Free diagnostic, firm quote before any work, and if we can't fix it, you don't pay.

We're Not Anti-DIY

Honestly? Fix your own stuff. We admire it. We'll even tell you which repairs are genuinely DIY-friendly — battery swaps on older phones, RAM and SSD upgrades, console cleaning — and which ones eat people alive: anything laminated, anything with a paired sensor, anything requiring heat and prying near a battery. If you get stuck halfway, that's not failure. That's when a bench with a microscope earns its keep.
