PS2 Repair Services

In-house at our Charlotte bench — diagnosed first, quoted before anything is touched.

Disc Read Error / laser repair

The #1 PS2 fault. Laser adjustment (the gain pot), cracked plastic gear replacement, rail lubrication, or full optical drive replacement.

Disc tray won't open or close (slim)

Worn tray belt and gears — common on the slim PS2. Belt replacement and mechanism service restore smooth tray operation.

No-power / board-level repair

Power supply faults on fat and slim PS2 — the fat's internal PSU and the slim's external brick — plus blown fuses and corrosion.

Controller & memory card port repair

Port sockets desoldered and replaced to restore reliable controller and memory card operation.

Fan & cooling / deep clean

Dust-out, fresh thermal compound, and fan service — essential for a fat PS2 that runs hot and loud after two decades.

Video output repair

No picture or bad AV multi-out signal — board-level video circuit diagnosis and repair.

Network adapter & HDD upgrade (fat)

We fit and configure the PS2 network adapter and HDD for OPL and storage-based setups on the fat PS2.

Shell & restoration

Deep cleaning, yellowing treatment, and cracked housing replacement — inside and out.

Mods & Upgrades

HDMI output

Clean digital video to modern TVs — no more component or composite cable hunting. Playing a PS2 on a 4K TV over composite looks rough; our HDMI output mod gives you a clean digital picture. The PS2 library the way it should look today.

Custom shell / restoration

New shells and retrobriting treatment to bring the exterior back to original appearance.

The PS2 is the console people bring in most

The PS2 is the console people bring in most, and it's usually the laser. That cracked plastic gear or a laser that's drifted out of calibration — both fixable, both far cheaper than chasing a working unit online. We'll tell you honestly which yours needs.

From a customer

Marco Serna — Google Review

“I recently had a couple of old consoles I was trying to fix a PS2 and Gamecube amongst others. I was given impeccable customer service and called for updates and got my PS2 working. The others were sadly beyond repair but they gave me a website to get a refurbished gamecube. I would definitely go to them again for any repair at all.”

The honesty here is the point — some consoles couldn't be saved, and we pointed him elsewhere rather than charging him anyway.

How it works

  1. 1

    Diagnostic and laser test

We open the console, measure laser output power, test the disc drive spindle and tray mechanism, and assess the board for capacitor condition before quoting.

  2. 2

    Laser and disc drive repair

We replace the laser assembly with a new-spec part calibrated for correct output power, or replace the full disc drive mechanism where needed — including the infamous cracked plastic gear on the fat PS2.

  3. 3

    Power, ports, and board repair

Power supply faults, failing capacitors, and damaged controller or memory card port sockets are addressed in this step.

  4. 4

    Full disc compatibility test

We test with both CD-ROM and DVD-ROM game titles to confirm the laser reads all disc types reliably before returning the console.
