Open Settings › Battery › Battery Health (called Battery Health & Charging on some iOS versions)
Check Maximum Capacity. Apple designs iPhone batteries to keep 80% of their original capacity at 500 full charge cycles (iPhone 14 and earlier) or 1,000 cycles (iPhone 15 and later)
Look for a 'Service' message, or a note that performance management was applied after an unexpected shutdown
Watch for shutdowns with charge left, especially in the cold or when opening the camera
If the screen is lifting at the edge, stop charging and bring it in: the battery may be swelling
