Signs you need this repair
The Xbox starts up but the TV doesn't see it. Usually the HDMI port, sometimes the chip behind it.
No sound, no light on the power button. Often the power supply, which is internal on the One S, One X and Series consoles.
The console starts but never gets past the logo, or restarts in a loop.

What usually causes it
On Series X and Series S especially, a damaged port often tears the contact traces off the board with it.

Xbox One, One S and One X use a mechanical hard drive. When it fails you get logo loops, troubleshooter screens and very slow loads.
Years of dust and drying paste push temperatures up, especially on the original Xbox One and One X.

Repair or replace?
For a Series X or Series S, repair is almost always worth it. An HDMI port, even with trace repair, or a power supply costs far less than a new console. For an older Xbox One, it depends on the fault. A power supply or hard drive is usually worth doing. Several faults at once on an older original Xbox One may not be. A Series console with a failed internal SSD is a tougher case because the SSD is tied to the console, and we'll walk you through that honestly.
Thinking of fixing it yourself?
Some Xbox repairs are DIY-friendly. Swapping a dead brick on an original Xbox One is plug and play. Running the offline system update from a USB drive can fix some update problems. Inside the console it gets harder. Series consoles have tight clips and a heavy heatsink, the power supply holds charge, and HDMI ports on Series boards tend to take traces with them when they come off. A failed home HDMI swap is one of the harder repairs to recover from, so stop if you see torn copper and bring it in.
After your repair
- Unplug the HDMI cable before moving the console.
- Use a surge protector.
- Keep vents clear, and on a Series X, leave space above the top vent.
- Let system updates finish before turning the console off.
- Any repeat of the repaired fault within 90 days is covered, so bring it straight back.
Questions people ask
My Xbox won't turn on at all. Is it dead?
Usually not. It's often the power supply, or the brick on an original Xbox One. Board faults are traced to the failed part. We'll tell you after the free diagnostic.
The TV says no signal but the Xbox is on.
That's almost always the HDMI port. On Series consoles the traces often tear with it, and we rebuild them with jumper wire before fitting the new port.
It's stuck on the Xbox logo.
On an Xbox One, a failing hard drive is the usual cause. On a Series console, it can be storage or a failed update. The diagnostic narrows it down.
It only boots to the troubleshooter screen.
That points to a storage or system update problem. Sometimes the offline update fixes it; sometimes the drive needs replacing.
Can you replace my Xbox One hard drive?
