Questions
Why does my iPhone charge wirelessly but not with a cable?
The battery and charging circuit are working, so the fault is almost always the charging port: packed lint, worn pins or corrosion. Cleaning fixes some; the rest need the port replaced.
Can I clean my iPhone's charging port myself?
Yes, carefully. Power the phone off and use a wooden toothpick or plastic pick. Avoid metal pins, blasts of compressed air and liquids. If the plug still feels loose afterwards, the port is worn.
My iPhone says liquid has been detected. What should I do?
Unplug it and let the port dry before charging again. If the warning keeps coming back once it's dry, there may be corrosion in the port, which is worth having checked before it spreads.
