Signs you need this repair
It powers on but refuses to arm, throws an error in DJI Fly, or tips over the moment the motors start. Crash damage often hits more than one system.
An arm that wobbles at the hinge or a motor that sits crooked will make the drone vibrate and drift. Don't fly it like that.
A gimbal that won't level, buzzes on startup or shows a gimbal motor overload warning usually has a torn ribbon cable or a damaged motor.
Frequent signal warnings, a frozen live view or a drone that won't link at all can be antennas, the transmission module or a firmware mismatch.

What usually causes it

Powering up with the gimbal protector still on makes the gimbal motors fight the clamp. That can strain the motors and the delicate gimbal ribbon.

Before you bring it in
- Copy your footage off the microSD card, or bring the card separately.
- Bring the remote controller and the batteries you fly with, unless a battery is swollen.
- Note any error messages from the DJI Fly app, or take a screenshot.
- Tell us what happened: crash height, what it hit, and whether it got wet.
- If you mail it, call first and leave damaged or swollen batteries at home, since they can't be shipped.
Repair or replace?
Most DJI crashes damage one or two parts, and repairing those costs much less than a new drone. Repair also keeps your batteries, controller and accessories working together. If your drone has active DJI Care Refresh, using it may cost you less, and we'll say so. When a cheaper Mini has major board and gimbal damage at once, replacing it can make more sense, and we'll show you the numbers.
Thinking of fixing it yourself?
Swapping propellers and recalibrating in the app is fine to do yourself. Beyond that, DJI drones get difficult quickly. The gimbal ribbon tears if you breathe on it wrong, shells hide clips and short screws, and motor wires on many models have to be soldered. A wrong screw length can pierce a board. If you've opened it and something tore, or it flies worse than before, stop and bring every piece in.
After your repair
- Do your first flight after pickup in an open area, at low altitude, in calm conditions.
- Always take the gimbal cover off before powering on.
- Check the props for nicks before every flight and replace any that are chipped.
- Recalibrate the compass if you travel far from where you usually fly, or if the app asks.
