Screen artifacting and visual corruption
Random blocks, pixel shimmer, color banding, or geometry distortion during gaming or after the card warms up. Artifacting is a reliable symptom of failing VRAM, cold solder joints under the GPU die, or degraded thermal interface material causing the GPU to reach its thermal throttle threshold and corrupt its own output.
Overheating and thermal throttle
Modern GPUs throttle clock speed when the die temperature exceeds 83–90°C, which causes stuttering and dropped frames rather than a crash. The cause is almost always dried thermal pads on VRAM modules, degraded compound under the die, clogged heatsink fins, or a failing fan bearing. A full thermal service restores normal operating temperatures without replacing the card.
GPU fan failure or grinding noise
A fan that won't spin, spins only intermittently, or makes grinding or rattling sounds will cause the GPU to overheat within minutes under any GPU-accelerated workload. We replace individual fans or the full shroud-and-fan assembly. Most dual and triple-fan cards can be serviced with in-stock or sourced replacement fans.
VRAM faults and VRAM errors
VRAM errors in games (black textures, missing geometry, hard crashes to desktop) or diagnostic tools reporting ECC errors on the memory modules are a sign of individual GDDR6 or GDDR6X chip failure. Depending on the card and which modules have failed, VRAM replacement is possible at the component level — we assess and quote after the diagnostic.
Power connector damage

Is GPU reflow worth doing?
Sometimes — but not as a first-line fix for everything. Reflow addresses cold solder joints under the GPU die or VRAM modules, which is a real failure mode in cards that have been heat-cycled extensively (especially in laptops and mining cards). However, reflow does not fix dead VRAM chips, failed power delivery components, or a GPU die that has delaminated. We diagnose before recommending a reflow, and we tell you upfront that it is not guaranteed.
Can you fix artifacting on my GPU?
In most cases yes, once we know the cause. Artifacting caused by dried thermal compound (GPU core overheating and throttling) is reliably fixed by a thermal service. Artifacting caused by VRAM degradation is more complex — we test each VRAM module and quote component-level replacement where feasible. Artifacting caused by a failed GPU die is generally not repairable at an economical price.
My RTX 4090 melted its 12VHPWR connector. Can you fix that?
Yes. We replace the PCIe power connector assembly on the card and inspect the PCB for heat damage around the connector pads. We also assess whether the damage extended to the power delivery circuitry. If you are using the adapter that came with the card, we strongly recommend switching to a direct 16-pin cable from your PSU.
