Signs you need this repair
Ads that appear on the home screen or outside the browser almost always come from an app you installed. Browser redirects to fake prize or warning pages point the same way.
A phone that sits on the Apple or Samsung logo, or restarts over and over, has a failed update or corrupted system. Sometimes it is hardware, which we check.
Something running in the background is working the processor. That can be a rogue app, a stuck sync or malware.
On iPhone this is usually a spam calendar subscription or a website notification, not a real infection. It is still worth cleaning out.
Constant crashes after an update can mean corrupted app data or a phone with almost no free storage left.
A new profile, VPN, home page or device admin app you don't recognize is a red flag.
What usually causes it
On Android, installing APK files from websites is the main way real malware arrives. Some also abuse accessibility permissions to stay hidden.
On iPhone, a profile installed from a website or a calendar spam subscription can push ads and redirect traffic.
An update that loses power or runs with almost no free storage can leave the system half-installed, causing a boot loop.
A phone with almost no free space slows down, fails updates and can get stuck while starting up.
How we fix it
- 1Software or hardware
Boot loops and freezes can come from a failing battery, storage chip or board fault, not just software. We check the hardware first so you don't pay for a reset that won't help.
- 2Back up before any reset
If the phone can boot and you give us the passcode, we back it up before touching anything. If it can't boot, we explain your options before going further.
- 3Remove the problem
On Android we use safe mode to find the app causing ads or drain, strip device admin and accessibility permissions, and remove it. On iPhone we clear rogue profiles, calendar subscriptions and website notifications.
- 4Repair a stuck system
An iPhone stuck on the logo can often be updated through a computer in recovery mode, which reinstalls iOS while keeping data. A Samsung can be repaired from its recovery menu or with Samsung's own software tools.
- 5Restore if needed
If the system can't be repaired in place, a full restore is the fix, and that erases the phone. We only do that with your approval and after any possible backup.
- 6Test and harden
We run the phone, check battery drain and heat, update it, and show you the settings that keep it clean.

Before you bring it in
- Know your passcode and your Apple ID or Google password; we can't do much without them.
- If the phone still works, back it up to iCloud, Google or a computer.
- Don't factory reset it yourself before you come in, if you want to keep your data.
- Write down when it started and anything you installed or clicked around that time.
- Bring your charger so the phone can stay powered during updates.
Repair or replace?
Software problems almost never justify a new phone. Once the cause is removed or the system is restored, the phone runs like it did before. The exception is a phone so old it no longer gets security updates, where the software problems will keep coming back. If the diagnostic shows a hardware fault behind the symptoms, we'll quote that repair separately and you decide.
Thinking of fixing it yourself?
A lot of this you can try at home. Restart the phone. On iPhone, check Settings, General, VPN and Device Management for profiles you don't recognize, and delete calendar accounts you didn't add. On Android, boot into safe mode and uninstall recent apps. Free up storage. What you shouldn't do is factory reset a phone that isn't backed up, or download 'cleaner' apps, which are often the problem themselves. If the phone is stuck on the logo and a restart doesn't fix it, stop before you try a reset.
After your repair
- Install apps only from the App Store or Google Play.
- Keep at least a few gigabytes of free storage.
- Let updates finish while plugged in.
- Turn off notifications from websites you don't trust.
- Turn on automatic backups so a reset never costs you photos.

Can a phone really get a virus?
Android phones can get real malware, mostly from apps installed outside Google Play. iPhones rarely do, but they get adware-style problems from profiles, calendar spam and website notifications. Both are worth cleaning out.
Will I lose my data during a software repair?
We back up first when the phone can boot and you give us the passcode. Many fixes keep your data. If a full restore is the only option, we explain that before doing it and only proceed with your approval.
